My husband and I are both pilots and we love to travel! I can’t tell you how many times I was told “all of that will change when you have a baby.” Well, all of that did change but not in the way that you would think. I travel more now than I ever have before! My son’s first road trip was at 2 weeks old from Seattle to Eugene, OR. His first airplane trip was at 4 weeks old from Seattle to Atlanta for 3 days, up to Charleston, WV for 3 days, and back to Seattle via Atlanta and Salt Lake City. I spent hours fretting about the trip because I was going to be all by myself! I worried for nothing. Mack was a rockstar! He barely made a peep and slept the entire time of every flight (with the exception of diaper changes).
It has now been a year of whirlwind travels all over the US (to include Alaska and Hawaii), and Europe. Mack took 69 trips in the past year mostly by plane but also by car and train. He has barely spent more than 5 days at a time in one place. I want to share his adventures to ease the worry of parents that are nervous to travel with their kids. Now is the time to travel! Introduce them while they’re young so that it becomes a natural part of their life. Hopefully by reading this blog, some of your questions will be answered and your mind will be put at ease before you take the first flight with your precious little one!
